Where we sit

We're at 127 Thermal Explorer Highway, Taupō 3330 — the main SH1 route that threads the North Island from Auckland down to Wellington. That puts us north of the Taupō town centre and minutes from Huka Falls to the north and Craters of the Moon to the south, with the lake itself a five-minute drive in either direction.

If you're road-tripping south from Auckland, we are roughly 3 hours 15 minutes off the Bombays. If you're heading north from Wellington, expect about 5 hours 30 minutes with a comfort stop at Waiouru. Either way, you arrive to a kitchenette, a heat pump, and a kettle already on.
